Abstract

A compact composite antenna applied to the satellite movable termination is presented in this article. The antenna unit is composed of a monofilar conical helix and a radial omnidirectional waveguide antenna with eight vertical metal rods. From the viewpoint of widening the circularly polarized (CP) beamwidth in vertical plane and frequency bandwidth, these components are unified as a single composite antenna. Both the simulated and measured results show that the broad CP beamwidth can be obtained over the frequency range from 2.3 to 3.3 GHz.
