A broadband tapered slot antenna for microwave imaging application

Abstract

A tapered slot antenna with high gain and broadband is designed in this paper for microwave imaging application, The proposed antenna consists of a circular resonator, a monospaced slotline and an exponential tapered slotline, and it is fed by a microstrip-to-slotline balun transition structure. Optimization is done to improve gain at high frequency. The bandwidth of the reflection coefficient less than −10dB is from 8GHz to 18GHz. Good agreement between simulated and tested results is achieved.
