Abstract

To satisfy the demands of the two-stage power distribution architectures in 48V data centers, this paper presents a multi-resonant switched-capacitor converter. This converter efficiently suppresses voltage fluctuations of the 48V data center bus, accomplishes soft capacitor charging, and guarantees high efficiency under low-voltage, high-current scenarios. The resonant frequency of the topology, the equilibrium voltage distribution across capacitors, and the phase-plane behavior are analyzed. The circuit operation, analysis, and experimental results from a 48 V-to-6 V laboratory prototype is presented, achieving a peak efficiency of 98.86% and a full-load efficiency 96.22%. The experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed technology.
