Abstract
To study the influence of the plateau environment on the aerodynamic performance of the small rotor, a numerical simulation method is employed to predict the hover performance of the small rotor with low Reynolds number, and the feasibility of this method is verified through the tensile test. Numerical simulations are performed under two cases of the same rotating rate, different altitude and the same altitude, different rotating rates, to evaluate the hover performance of the small rotor. The simulation results reveal the influence of the plateau environment on the hover performance of small rotors. Compared the plateau environment with the plain environment, the tension and the power of the small rotor at the same rotating rate are significantly reduced in the plateau environment. It is suggested that the rotor geometry used in the plateau environment should be optimized in the future.
