Abstract

Gyroscope is the core instrument of inertial navigation systems, and the accuracy level and accuracy stability are its most important performance. Vibration, which is one of the key factors affecting the accuracy of gyroscopes, can cause centroid shift in the floated component of gyroscopes, resulting in interference torque and drift errors. This article reveals the mechanism of the centroid shift of gyroscope floated components under vibration conditions due to contact-surface friction and material plasticity. An analysis method hybridizing linear dynamics and nonlinear statics is proposed to investigate in depth the effects of contact surface friction and material plasticity on residual displacement of the motor center. The results indicate that the influence of contact surface friction is greater than that of material plasticity. The two factors need to be considered simultaneously in the analysis of centroid shift of floated components, allowing for the interaction of the two factors. During the vibration of the floated component, potential energy is released in the ways of frictional dissipation and plastic dissipation, with the former being greater than the latter. This mechanism study provides a theoretical basis for the structural and process design to improve the vibration resistance of gyroscopes.
