Abstract

In order to evaluate the storage life of GAP propellant grain, this paper takes the stress/strain competition failure of propellant under ignition pressure as the criterion, and uses some high temperature accelerated aging test samples to establish the mechanical properties of ignition pressure conditions(normal temperature,8 MPa confining pressure,4 000 mm·min-1)and standard conditions(normal temperature and pressure,100 mm·min-1). The variation of maximum strain and maximum stress of grain with storage time is obtained by finite element simulation of motor, and the storage life of propellant grain is evaluated by combining tensile strength and maximum elongation. The results show that in the process of accelerated aging, the maximum tensile strength and elongation of GAP propellant under the condition of ignition pressure buildup have a fixed proportional relationship with the standard conditions, which are 0.56 and 0.57 respectively. The storage life evaluation criterion of GAP propellant grain is stress failure. The storage life evaluation result considering ignition pressure failure is about 3.48 times that of the normal evaluation method. The reason is that the tensile strength is significantly improved under the condition of ignition pressure.
