Abstract

In this paper, a model which can predict the viscosity of natural gas components and their mixtures was established based on the free volume theory (FVT) and related mixing rules. Based on collecting and sorting out the experimental viscosity data, the parameters of FVT of 9 basic natural gas components were determined through the regression of the experimental data. The average absolute relative deviation (AARD) between the calculated results of the model and the experimental data was less than 2.8%. The viscosity of binary and multicomponent mixtures of natural gas were predicted by the FVT combined with appropriate mixing rules, the AARD between the calculated values and the experimental data were less than 7.41%.
