Abstract
In this paper, a novel PVDF hollow fiber membrane prepared by the thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) method was used in the San Patricio Waterworks in Texas, USA. The results showed that the pilot membrane module can maintain a high flux of 110 L/(m·h) (65 GFD) due to the high permeability and easy cleaning of the new-type PVDF membrane, which is about 20% higher than the design of the waterworks. In addition, the quality of the produced water treated by the new-type PVDF membrane is stable and reliable. The turbidity is always less than 0.05 NTU with the excellent removal effect of bacteria which is similar to the size of Cryptosporidium. And the log removal value (LRV) is greater than 4log, which fully meets the local drinking water quality standards in the USA.
