Abstract

Objective: To observe the value of direct reconstruction of cardiac 11C-acetate PET kinetic parametric images based on alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM). Methods: Data of 11C-acetate PET images of 1 patient with early alcoholic cardiomyopathy was used to generate the ideal dynamic images, and the images were then projected to generate sinograms and added Poisson noise. PET images reconstruction were combined with the parameters calculation based on cardiac 11C-acetate single tissue compartment model, and the cardiac 11C-acetate PET kinetic parametric images were directly reconstructed with ADMM. The parametric images were indirectly reconstructed with ordered subsets expectation maximization (OSEM). The correlations of two reconstruction methods and reference standard were observed, and the value of direct reconstruction method was analyzed. Results: The indirect reconstruction took 23 min, while the direct reconstruction took 140 min. The average biases of K1, k2 and vl calculated with reference standard and indirect reconstruction was 2.97%, 1.61% and 10.19%, respectively, while between reference standard and direct reconstruction was 1.16%, 1.06% and 4.30%, respectively. K1, k2 and vl calculated with indirect or direct reconstruction were all strongly correlated with reference standard (all r>0.9, all P<0.001). Conclusion: Compared with indirect reconstruction, the accuracy of direct reconstruction of cardiac 11C-acetate PET kinetic parametric images based on ADMM was higher.
