Abstract

According to the overall requirement of Mechanics “101 Plan”, this article presents how to design a new course, entitled Engineering Issues in Mechanics, focusing on the engineering mechanics methodology. At first, the article clarifies the basic logic of engineering mechanics methodology in three top-down levels, that is, the orientation of engineering science, system science thinking and system engineering methods. Then, the article presents how to illustrate the basic contents of engineering mechanics methodology including the qualitative researches, mechanism researches and data-driven researches via various examples. Finally, it outlines 11 completed case studies in engineering mechanics and their ideas of design, and points out the future work so as to further improve case studies.
