Abstract

The effect of tandem warhead on the target is numerically simulated and studied to analyze the adaptivity of tandem warhead to the calibers of travelling projectile and its initial attitude. The penetration processes of travelling projectile in the case of the calibers of precursor charge and the different initial attitudes of tandem warhead are calculated and analyzed based on the full restart technology of finite element analysis software LS-DYNA. The analysis result shows that the caliber of precursor charge has certain and appreciable effects on the residual velocity and attitude of travelling projectile, while the initial attitude of the rear warhead has little effect on them. And it is worthwhile to further study the effects of failure of targets.
