Abstract

The CIE color rendering index (CRI) has some problems on evaluating white light LED because of its poor correlation with the visual color rendering, therefore it is necessary to find a new calculation method or modify the existing CIE color rendering index. A new kind of method based on visual evaluation experiment is proposed in order to modify the CRI of white light LED. To obtain the modified CRI, the CRI calculation method is modified by combining the relative spectral power distribution of the light sources with the spectral reflectance of the samples. By comparing the visual evaluations with the CIE CRI and the modified CRI respectively, it is confirmed that the modified CRI correlates more with the visual evaluations.
