Born in Linquan, Anhui Province in October 1968, he graduated from Beijing Institute of Technology in March 1995 with a doctorate degree in computer application. He has successively served as engineer of Data Bureau of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, postdoctoral fellow of LRDC of University of Pittsburgh, research fellow and part-time researcher of Computer School of Carnegie Mellon University, Technical Director of China Digital Library Corporation, professor, doctoral supervisor and deputy Dean of Software School of Beijing Institute of Technology, etc. He is currently a professor, doctoral supervisor, deputy dean of the School of Computer Science, Beijing Institute of Technology, and the Chinese owner of the BIT-UTS Joint Research Center for Data Mining and Service Technology. He is also an adjunct professor of the School of Information Science, University of Pittsburgh, and chairman of the Committee of Information Technology Experts of the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau.
Engaged in massive digital resource management and data mining, intelligent information retrieval system, intelligent education technology, neural information mining, digital library technology, enterprise informatization, software architecture research. He has presided over and completed more than 10 basic research projects and national major engineering projects, including 973 projects, and published more than 100 papers in top international academic journals and international mainstream conferences, including PNAS, Human Brain Mapping, World Wide Web, ICDM, etc.
