Shangran Xie, National Program for Youth, BIT Teli Young Fellow, Head of Max Planck Partner Group for the Science of Light. He received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics and Photonics from Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University in 2007 and 2013 respectively. From 2010 to 2011, he joined Fiber Optics Group (Prof. Xiaoyi Bao) in University of Ottawa in Canada as a visiting Ph.D. student. From 2013, he started to work at Russell Division (Prof. Philip Russell), Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light in Germany, firstly as a postdoctoral fellow and then promoted to Senior Scientist (in 2015). Since 2021, he joined School of Optics and Photonics in Beijing Institute of Technology as a full professor. He has led several NSFC projects in China and DFG projects in Germany. He has published more than 100 SCI papers as first/corresponding authors on top journals including Science Advances, Light: Science & Applications, Physical Review Letters and Optica. His research interests include optical tweezers and optomechanics, quantum sensing, fiber optics and fiber sensors.

The research group plans to recruit 1-2 doctoral students and 2-3 master students every year, and has a number of postdocs and research assistants. Those with excellent performance can be recommended to Germany, Canada and other places for further study.
