Euler-Lagrange coupling technique for mass loss of kinetic-energy penetrator

摘要

Aimed to the abrasion process in high-speed penetration problems, an abrasion model was incorporated into the Euler-Lagrange coupling code. In the incorporated code, the movement and distortion of the projectile is described by Lagrangian meshes, the response of the target material by Eulerian meshes, the projectile-target interaction by the Euler-Lagrange coupling technique and the local abrasion on the surface of the projectile by the node-rollback method. For the abrasion problem, the Euler-Lagrange coupling code is better than the Lagrangian codes, because it is more difficult to treat the process of modifying nodes and the process of contact eroding at the same time by the Lagrangian code. The processes of the projectiles penetrating the concrete targets with abrasion were simulated. The simulated results of the examples display that the treatment method proposed in the paper is feasible.
