Abstract

For the issue of measuring the high-spin projectile angular motion parameters with low-range gyro, an analysis of high-spin projectile motion characteristics was conducted. A mathematical model of measuring angular motion parameters using a low-range gyro was established and a measurement method of the angular motion parameter of high-spin projectile was proposed based on wavelet transform and a low-range gyro. Based on the wavelet filter processing of the measured data from the low-range gyro installed along with the pitch axis, the coupling angle motion curve similar to sinusoid was obtained. The motion parameters including the pitch rate, roll angle rate and roll angle of the high-spin projectile were also estimated using the zero-crossing and extreme points of sinusoid. The experiments showed that the proposed method can effectively calculate the above-mentioned motion parameters of high-spin projectile, with the accuracy of 3.6% for the pitch rate, 1‰ for roll angle rate, and 2° for roll angle.
