Abstract

The semi-empirical penetration model developed by Forrestal et al contains a single, dimensionless empirical parameter S related with the unconfined compressive strength of the concrete, which is calculated and inversigated by a dynamic spherical cavity expansion analysis based on a three-section constitutive model. The results coincide with the trend of empirical parameters. Further works indicate that the empirical parameter S is related to the compressive strength and the pressure hardening coefficient in the concrete model.
