Abstract

The atmospheric influences on image resolution of ground-to-space or space-to-ground system are analyzed. Atmospheric correlation length r0 is the basis of evaluating the atmospheric influence on image resolution. According to different atmospheric turbulence model, r0 has been calculated to evaluate the influence on image resolution. And r0 comparison between ground-to-space system and space-to-ground system is presented. For space-to-ground system, r0 is related with the altitude of atmospheric turbulence and Cn 2, and for ground-to-space system, r0 is independent of the altitude. The influences on image resolution of space-borne system and air-borne system caused by atmospheric turbulence are discussed through calculating r0.
