Abstract

The ballistic trajectory of a projectile oblique penetration into concrete was investigated experimentally by a 152 mm gas gun. High-speed video camera and mirror in front of the target were used to record the attitudes of the projectile and its tail near the target. The projectile velocity, transverse deflection angle, crater dimension, oblique penetration depth and ballistic trajectory were obtained separately. A projectile with weakly-connected-structure oblique penetration had been investigated to demonstrate the effect of the weakly-connected-structure to the projectile velocity and transverse deflection angle. Those experimental data would contribute to the theoretical study about the mechanics of the projectile with weakly-connected-structure oblique penetration.
