Abstract

The non-halogen flame-retarded polymers have attracted considerable interest in the last few years. The action mechanisms, flame retardant efficiency and application examples of five types of ecological friendly flame-retarded polyamide (PA) were analyzed and discussed with detailed experimental data. The five types of flame-retard PA are PA, containing respectively (1) mescent flame retardant systems; (2) polymeric char former; (3) non-halogen phosphate; (4) nanocopmposite; and (5) preceramic polymers. In addition, this paper described the advantage and disadvantage of the five types of ecological friendly flame retarded PA. Finally, the research and industrialized application of these ecological friendly flame retardant were proposed in the future development.
